Public Bath in Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort
This is the best hotel we have stayed at!! We loved everything about it. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They helped us with our bags and showed us to our room. The restaurant staff were also fantastic. Our room was beautiful and peaceful. The private bath was like nothing I have seen before. So cool! Overlooking the quiet forest. The beds were comfortable, cozy and the sliding doors hardly let any light in. The womens public outdoor bath is exactly like the pictures, overlooking trees with an amazing red autumn colour tree at the front. It was just so beautiful. There is also a sauna and cold plunge in the women's bath as well as ice cold water to drink after the hot bath. I even had the public bath to myself on the second day which was so cool! The hotel provides great amenities in the lobby and the room. Water, local sweets and shampoo/ soap in the room as well as additional toiletries as you check in. At night there are local snacks, ice water and sake in the lobby. In the lounge they had beer, wine and local apple juice at night. Tea and coffee available in the daytime. There was also ice lollies and milk for after the public bath. The outdoor private baths which are on a first come first served basis were also beautiful. We were able to use them often on our stay which I was glad about as I initially worried they would be too busy. They open til late too. The outdoor deck has a fire pit at night overlooking the trees it was so peaceful. We had the hida beef at dinner which we cooked ourselves on the grill, a great experience. It may be better to book this hotel direct as we didn't realise we hadn't booked breakfast and dinner. Luckily they had space for us when we checked in. There is a free shuttle from the bus station although it is a short walk if you don't have heavy bags. We did so called them via pay phone upon arrival and they were there within 5mins.

Well, I don't even know where to start. The summary - this Hotel is definitely the highlight point of our whole 2024 journey through Japan. For context - it's the third time we are in this country and this time we've been traveling for a whole month. If you have a chance to go here - don't hesitate. This is the hotel to enjoy the culture and cuisine most conveniently. As for the details: Japanese-Western Room with Hot Spring Bath - exceeded all of my expectations several times. Just wow, this new, this modern yet with a very clear Japanese style, and the second wow for all of the space, such a luxury! The wood, the details, the quality, impeccable cleanness. The bath deserved its own wow. So convenient, with regulated heat and a wide window with an option to open it and keep privacy. The staff speaks English very well. Lots of additional perks like simple but free "nighttime ramen", beverages, snacks, and sake. Great onsen space with additional private but free spots to enjoy it for couples, kids, and friends. Well managed, friendly. And the building itself - the amazingly decorated corridors, the lamps, the floors, the info tables, and the signs - I've enjoyed every inch of them. Well done with the whole design and keeping it in such a great shape. We've had half board options - high-quality Kaiseki for breakfast and Shabu-Shabu or Yakiniku for dinner. The hotel offers helpful transfer, convenient for large travel bag users. Without them - it's pretty close to the bus station. So many things I liked, but the last one to mention is the view from our restaurant counter, it really looks like a picture, but it's the mindblowing reality.

This place was absolutely gorgeous and so comfortable! We loved this place and were very happy to stay for 3 nights, but wish we stayed for longer. There are private onsens which are open for free to anyone if they are available (which a lot of times we found they were available which was great!). Our room was gorgeous with a private onsen as well and a lot of space. It was a bit pricey but so worth it for a rest we really needed while travelling in Japan. It was also snowing in this town so we had some breathtaking views while staying here. The food was great, and we loved the views from where we sat for breakfast looking over the mountains. There was also free drinks from 3pm to 9pm which was so cool. Free noodles at 10pm too.

Where do I start? From the warmth of the staff when we entered all the way until the end of our 3 night stay was amazing! There were plenty of people to help at any time and everything was super clean. We haven’t even talked about the facilities, the variety of hot springs, free ice cream, milk, amenities, candy, drinks including alcohol, ramen and the super comprehensive Japanese breakfast and dinner each day. Such good quality. We also walked into town on Christmas Day and bumped into a ski resort, did a quick snowboard run down the hill and soaked our feet in a public foot bath while still experiencing the serenity of the alps and snow. It was a perfect way to spend Christmas. Thank you!!

Nikki

We had a huge room with an incredible view onto gorgeuous nature. It felt so private. Our room also had a circular bathtub. Ultimate luxurious experience. The food was also 5 star. The private onsen we used as a couple was really dreamy, this we reserved at the reception desk for specific times and we got a timeslot of 30min, but was more than enough. The communal onsen was beautiful and has seperated male and female. When we there in the ealry morning, it was almost empty. I thought the staff were very helpful and kind. They helped us to forward our luggage to another destination.
